Kevin and I would like to say thank you to everyone at Guthrie Castle for helping to make our wedding so special, but somehow the words ‘Thank You’ do not seem enough.

Everything about our two days there was absolutely perfect, from the setting to the service. From the moment we arrived on Sunday afternoon to be greeted with home-made scones and shortbread, all the guests fell in love with Guthrie. The castle and grounds are a stunning setting for any event, but they are perfect for a ‘truly romantic’ wedding, and the interior décor was absolutely ideal for our Edwardian theme. We even played croquet on the lawn after the ceremony. The rooms both in the Castle itself and the cottages are beautifully appointed and very comfortable, and we were all made to feel as if the castle was our home. All our guests were more than impressed, and were sad to leave on Tuesday morning.

As for the service we received from all of the staff, it was far beyond even our high expectations. From the moment we first came to Guthrie to view the Castle, we have been impressed with the dedication of all the staff, in particular Pamela, to whom nothing seemed to be too much trouble. She helped with making decisions and arrangements mostly via email since we live in England, and as the day grew closer her quiet professionalism helped keep me calm and confident.

All of the staff worked hard to help make us feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed, and Pamela, Fiona and Wendy even joined in with our theme by dressing the part of serving staff from the Titanic era! Ben the chef did lots of research to give us dishes that would have been appropriate to the time and his food was a definite success. Unfortunately we have been unable to get his scone recipe from him.

Everyone who joined us for the weekend says it was the best wedding they have ever been to, and certainly the best setting. Above all, it was the relaxed and homely feel which made the whole stay enjoyable. We are even getting thank you cards from our guests before we’ve had a chance to send any out!

I would have no hesitation in recommending Guthrie Castle as a wedding venue to anyone who wants something far more special than the usual package. We had a wedding day and a two day stay that will be talked about for many years to come, and we would love to return some day to celebrate an anniversary if possible.
