Guthrie Castle Local Area

Those wishing to make the most of their trip to the east of Scotland by extending their stay in the area before or after a wedding at Guthrie Castle have a wide range of choices for places to go or stay depending on how far they want to travel.

Only 10 minutes from the castle is the historic fishing town and “capital” of Angus - Arbroath.  Here you will find the famous Abbey where the “Declaration of Arbroath” was signed, said to be the document that the American Constitution was based upon.

Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the late Queen Mother, is well
worth a visit - especially if you join in one of the guided tours.  And in Kirriemuir you will find a lovely little museum dedicated to JJ Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan.

The nearest city of any size is Dundee - only 30 minutes away.  Here you will find much of interest including Captan Cook’s ship The Discovery.

Of course for the golfer we have the famous Carnoustie Championship Course on our doorstep and St. Andrews is only about 45 minutes away.  There are many other attractive and challenging courses in the area too many to mention here.
